Gemini covers the last month of spring, usually May 21 to June 20. Astrology ties it to curiosity and talk. Uranus came back to Gemini on April 25, 2026 and spends most of the time until May 2033 here; before a first visit in 2025, it hadn't been in the sign since 1949.
What is a Gemini like?
Mercury, the planet of language and learning, rules Gemini, so astrology gives the sign a quick, restless mind. You probably ask a lot of questions and change the subject before everyone else is ready. Mutable signs adapt, and you can talk to almost anyone.
Repetition is what wears a Gemini down. Starting things is easier than finishing them, and you'll happily argue the other side of a debate just to see how the idea holds up. Other people can get fed up when you drop a project or change plans they've already committed to. With too much input, the restlessness turns into nervous tension and trouble switching off.
With friends, a Gemini keeps in touch constantly and often talks a feeling through before fully processing it, which can make a problem look smaller than it is. At work, teaching, interviewing, writing and sales fit the sign's love of questions. Even there, routine paperwork is the part that tests a Gemini's patience.
A Gemini Sun doesn't have to be outgoing. First impressions depend a lot on the rising sign, and with a water sign rising the chatty side can stay hidden until people know you. In love, astrologers look at Venus, and a Gemini Sun can only have one of five Venus signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer or Leo. Venus never strays more than about 47° from the Sun, so the other seven are out of reach.

Uranus in Gemini, 2026 to 2033
Uranus entered Gemini on April 25, 2026 (8:52 p.m. EDT; April 26, 00:52 UT), after a first visit from July 7 to November 7, 2025. It stays until August 3, 2032, comes back for the winter on December 12, 2032 and leaves for Cancer on May 22, 2033.
The last time was 1941 to 1949, with the same back and forth at both ends. Uranus takes about 84 years to go round the zodiac, and on this pass it crosses every degree of Gemini, so every Gemini Sun gets a Uranus crossing at some point between 2025 and 2033.
Astrologers link Uranus with sudden change and Gemini with information, so the transit is usually read as a shake-up in how people talk and pass on news. For a Gemini Sun the timing depends on your Sun's degree. Astrologers watch for the year Uranus reaches it, sometimes more than once as Uranus moves forward and back, and read that year as a change of direction.
Why Gemini is called a double sign
The twins come from the constellation, whose two brightest stars carry the names of the twins in Greek myth, Castor and Pollux. The tropical sign is measured from the equinox, though, so it no longer lines up with the constellation. Ptolemy gave a different reason for calling Gemini a double, or "bicorporeal", sign in the Tetrabiblos. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces each sit at the end of a season, and he said they "share, as it were, at end and beginning, the natural properties of the two states of weather."
In Ptolemy's version, then, Gemini's doubleness is about timing: late spring that already has some summer in it. Modern astrology calls these the mutable signs and credits them with adaptability. The "two-faced" stereotype isn't part of Ptolemy's reasoning at all.

Gemini dates and birthdays, by the numbers
The usual range is May 21 to June 20, but in the tropical zodiac Gemini runs from 60° to 90° of the Sun's longitude, and the dates shift a little each year. In Eastern time Gemini began on May 20 in 2026 and begins on May 20 again in 2028, while in 2027 it lasts until about 10:11 a.m. on June 21. Born near either edge, in any year? Gemini birthdays come in almost exactly at their share of the calendar. In Social Security Administration counts for 2000 to 2014 (published by FiveThirtyEight), 5,267,980 of 62,187,024 births fell on calendar dates between May 21 and June 20. That's 8.47%, fourth of the 12 signs, against 8.49% for the share of the calendar those 31 days take up.
