Lucky Zodiac Signs 2027: The Full Luck Ranking, With Exact Dates

Most "lucky zodiac signs" lists work backwards: pick three signs, then find reasons. This one works forward from the sky. In astrology, luck has one primary engine, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, and Jupiter runs on a public schedule. That makes a luck ranking checkable: the transit dates below show why each sign lands where it does.

2027 is a handoff year, like 2026 was. Jupiter spends the first seven months finishing its Leo run, stationing direct at 16°59′ Leo on April 12 and leaving the sign on July 25. On July 26 it enters Virgo, where it stays until August 23, 2028. So "who's lucky this year" has two answers with a handoff date, and the second comes with a condition: Jupiter in Virgo is in detriment, which changes what the luck looks like without cancelling it.

Luck has a schedule: how this ranking works

Three rules, the same ones our unlucky ranking uses. First, Jupiter is the luck planet: where it sits, and which signs it supports by trine or sextile, decides where the year's opportunities open, and in which part of life. Counted from your sun sign, the sign Jupiter occupies is one of your twelve solar houses, each governing a life domain. Second, dignity matters: Jupiter in Leo (to July 25) sits in a fire sign it works well in but holds no formal dignity there; Jupiter in Virgo (from July 26) is in detriment, the sign opposite its Pisces home, so the second-half luck arrives as craft, process and the fine print rather than as windfalls. Third, hard transits subtract: Saturn in Aries squares Cancer and Capricorn and opposes Libra at 8°20′ to 27°53′ all year, the Leo and Aquarius eclipses cluster around the handoff (one Aquarius eclipse falls inside the Leo window, the Leo and second Aquarius eclipses land in the first weeks of the Virgo window), and a Mars retrograde opens the year in Virgo and Leo. A smaller fourth factor breaks ties: a sign's own ruler being the planet in play (Sagittarius and Pisces with Jupiter) and Uranus's long stay in Gemini. Those pressures and boosts move several signs up or down the list even when Jupiter's aspect alone would place them elsewhere.

One caveat we repeat on every ranking: transits actually land on houses set by your rising sign, not your sun. Sun-sign luck is real but coarse. Treat this list as the forecast; your birth chart is the measurement, and finding your Big Three is where you start reading it.

The top five lucky signs of 2027

1. Leo: the last seven months of your once-in-twelve-years year

Jupiter conjunct your sun sign is the single best-reputed transit in astrology, and Leo keeps it until July 25, 2027. Jupiter stationed retrograde at 27°01′ Leo on December 13, 2026 and spends the winter backing up to 16°59′, where it stations direct on April 12. Then comes the direct sprint: 16°59′ to the end of the sign in three and a half months, re-crossing 27°01′ on July 11. Leo Suns between 17° and 27°01′ (birthdays around August 9 to 19) collect three exact conjunctions across the transit; Leos above 27°01′ get theirs in the final fortnight. The retrograde is a review phase, not lost luck, and the spring is the part to schedule the launch, the audition or the ask into. Two asterisks: Mars retrograde sits on the sign's late degrees from February 21 to April 1, and the August 2 total solar eclipse at 9°55′ Leo lands a week after Jupiter leaves, which is why Leo also holds the #4 spot on our unlucky list: disruption with a safety net, not pure grind. 2. Virgo: the inheritance, in detriment

On July 26, 2027 Jupiter enters Virgo for the first time since 2016 and stays through August 23, 2028, an unusually long visit. The peak day is the Sun–Jupiter conjunction on August 31, 2027 at 7°42′ Virgo, and because Jupiter then moves quickly through the sign (14°16′ Virgo by October 1, 20°17′ Virgo by November 1, 24°49′ Virgo by December 1), Virgo Suns from 0° to about 27°, birthdays August 23 to September 19, get their exact conjunction before the year ends; the last few degrees wait for 2028. Two honesty notes. Jupiter in Virgo is in detriment, so the growth shows up as craft, contracts and health decisions that pay off later, not as the visible confidence of a Leo year. And the year opens badly for early Virgos: Mars stations retrograde at 10°26′ Virgo on January 10 and the February 20 eclipse at 2°06′ Virgo closes the old Virgo and Pisces eclipse series. 3. Sagittarius: your own ruler, on a trine, with Saturn holding the ladder

Jupiter rules Sagittarius, and until July 25 its trine from Leo runs through your ninth solar house: travel, publishing, teaching, belief. Underneath it, Saturn in Aries trines Sagittarius all year, structure offered rather than imposed, and no eclipse lands in the sign. After July 26 Jupiter squares you from Virgo through the tenth house, which reads as career pressure that grows you: the ask gets bigger and the standard gets higher at the same time. That's the cleanest first half on the wheel and a demanding, useful second half.

4. Gemini: the sextile, the wildcard, and a clean slow-planet year

Gemini collects Jupiter's sextile from Leo until July 25, paying into the third solar house, writing, deals, the daily communication layer, and it hosts Uranus for the whole year, 1°41′ to 9°57′ Gemini, direct on February 8 and retrograde again from September 15. Sextiles pay when you act, and with Uranus on the first decan the sudden changes cluster around communication, travel and the daily routine. No Saturn hard aspect touches the sign and no eclipse lands in it. The tax is small and specific: the June Mercury retrograde finishes in Gemini (direct at 27°28′ Gemini on July 4), and from July 26 Jupiter squares you from Virgo through the fourth house, so from July 26 the square can enlarge home and family demands. Leave room for them before you say yes.

5. Taurus: front-loaded caution, back-loaded reward

Taurus is the only earth sign in the top five because it gets the cleanest version of the second-half trine: from July 26 Jupiter in Virgo trines Taurus through the fifth solar house, romance, creative work, the projects that carry your name. It's also the first full calendar year since Uranus left Taurus, after an eight-year stay that ended in April 2026. The discount is real and dated: until July 25 Jupiter squares you from Leo, and the August 2 total eclipse squares 5° to 15° Taurus, one hard week for the early-decan birthdays. Hold the big bets until after that eclipse.

Every sign's lucky window in 2027

Every sign gets a dated Jupiter contact this year, easy or hard; that's how a mid-year ingress works. The first-half signs draw on Jupiter in Leo (fire), the second-half signs on Jupiter in Virgo (earth, in detriment). Ranked from six to twelve, with the subtractions shown:

Two dated dents: the August 2 eclipse squares 5° to 15° Scorpio, and the October Mercury retrograde stations in the sign on October 7.
• · 7. Pisces: Jupiter, your traditional ruler, opposes you from Virgo through the seventh solar house from July 26. Oppositions grow you through other people, partners, clients, negotiations. Saturn and Neptune are both gone from Pisces and no Saturn hard aspect touches the sign; the February 20 eclipse opposes early Pisces and closes the series that has been working your axis since 2024.
• · 8. Libra: Jupiter's sextile from Leo into the eleventh solar house until July 25, and nothing from Virgo afterwards. Saturn's opposition at 8°20′ to 27°53′ runs all year across the relationship axis: a serious, clarifying audit of partnerships rather than misfortune.
• · 9. Capricorn: the earth trine from Virgo into your ninth solar house from July 26, and Pluto gone from the sign for good. Discounted hard: Saturn squares 8°20′ to 27°53′ Capricorn all year with a triple pass on the late degrees, and the July 18 lunar eclipse at 25°49′ Capricorn (borderline: so shallow that some almanacs list it as a plain full moon) lands inside that zone, which is why Capricorn is #2 on the unlucky list. The Virgo trine helps after July 26; Saturn's square keeps Capricorn out of the top tier.
• · 10. Aries: 2026's highest-variance sign loses its cushion mid-year. The trine from Leo runs your fifth solar house until July 25, then fades to an inconjunct, while Saturn sits on 8°20′ to 27°53′ Aries for the whole year. The subtractions run all year: Saturn's square at 8°20′ to 27°53′, the July 18 lunar eclipse (the borderline one) opposing late Cancer, and a Mercury retrograde stationing at 6°21′ Cancer on June 10.

Aquarius: Jupiter opposes you from Leo through the seventh solar house until July 25, two eclipses land in the sign (February 6 at 17°38′, August 17 at 24°12′) with the August 2 total eclipse opposing, and Pluto grinds 4°21′ to 7°10′. The first half can bring openings through partners, with extra demands attached; after July 25 Jupiter makes no major aspect to Aquarius.

The luck handoff: what 2028 changes

This ranking's second half carries into 2028. Jupiter stays in Virgo until August 23, 2028, so Virgo opens 2028 where 2027 closes, and the earth trines to Taurus and Capricorn keep running. The bigger change is Saturn: it leaves Aries for Taurus on April 12, 2028, lifting the year-long weight off the four cardinal signs and moving the audit to the fixed ones. What lottery data actually says about lucky signs

If some signs were permanently lucky, lottery data would show it: jackpots are one of the biggest natural experiments in luck humans run, with millions of tickets a year. The UK National Lottery's operator, Camelot, analyzed its 2022 winners and found Cancer the most represented sign. An Australian analysis of 2019–20 division-one winners crowned Pisces, at 14.3% of top prizes. A 2022 analysis by GambLizard crowned Capricorn, with 317 winners of jackpots over $200,000. Three datasets, three different "luckiest signs."

That's not a cover-up; that's what chance alone produces. Twelve roughly equal birth-month cohorts will always produce a "winner" by chance, and the winner reshuffles every year. Which is exactly why this article ranks windows, not signs: when astrologers say Virgo is lucky from July 26, 2027, the claim isn't that Virgos beat the house; it's that for thirteen dated months astrologers expect Virgo placements to see more openings in work, health and practical decisions. Jupiter takes about twelve years to lap the zodiac, so roughly every twelve years it returns to the sign it occupied when you were born: your Jupiter return, traditionally read as the opening of a new growth cycle. 2027 holds two of them. Anyone born with Jupiter in Leo (July 16, 2014 to August 10, 2015; August 1, 2002 to August 26, 2003; August 18, 1990 to September 11, 1991) is inside their return until July 25, 2027, whatever their sun sign.
