Neptune in Aries: Faith in Action, Exact Dates, and Who Actually Has It

Two very different people type "Neptune in Aries" into a search bar. One wants to know what the sky is doing: Neptune crossed into Aries on March 30, 2025, backed out, returned on January 26, 2026, and will sit there until 2038. The other wants to know what it means to have Neptune in Aries in a birth chart, and nearly every one of those readers is about to learn that they don't. Nobody born between 1875 and March 2025 has this placement. This page is written for both readers, and it keeps the two questions apart, because "Neptune in Aries" is one phrase naming two things that people almost always mix up.

The difference here is precision. Every ingress and retreat is dated to the day, the annual retrograde stations from 2025 to 2030 are tabled with their degrees, and the transit is read by house rather than by a twelve-sign listicle, because Neptune's sign changes so rarely that it says almost nothing about you personally. Every crossing, dated: Neptune in Aries 2025 to 2039

The ranking guides give a year range. Neptune does not move in year ranges; it moves in a series of crossings, and because its annual retrograde loop almost always straddles a sign boundary, every new stay opens and closes with a shuffle. Here is the Aries stay in full, civil UT dates, computed independently and checked against two external ingress tables to within a day.

Inside the stay, Neptune stations twice a year: retrograde around early July, direct around mid-December. A slow planet spends weeks near standstill at each one, so a natal point within a degree of a station degree gets the transit at full strength for months rather than days. Here are the first six years.

Read the pattern and you can see how the transit actually moves: about two and a quarter degrees of net progress a year, each degree crossed three times. A planet at 6° Aries in your chart gets the transit from mid-2027, when Neptune first reaches 6°, through late 2028, when it clears the degree for good. Transit, natal, or house? Three readings that get mixed up

Most of the confusion around this phrase comes from three things sharing a name. The transit is the sky: Neptune moving through Aries from 2025 to 2039, affecting everyone alive by touching whichever house Aries occupies in their chart. The natal placement is a birth fact: Neptune in Aries at the moment you were born, which is true only of children born since March 2025 and of a generation born in the 1860s and 1870s. The house is the personal layer that most "Neptune in Aries" articles quietly substitute in: Neptune in the 1st house, the house Aries naturally corresponds to, which anyone of any generation can have if their rising sign and birth time put Neptune there.

Three questions, three answers. If you're an adult reading this, the natal reading isn't about you. But so many pages imply otherwise, so it's worth saying plainly. Your Neptune is in one of seven signs from Virgo to Pisces, and finding which takes a birth date alone; the Neptune sign calculator resolves it, including the boundary years where a single date decides between two signs. The transit reading is about you, but only once you know which house it lands in. That is the reading the rest of this page is built around.

One more thing the phrase gets attached to: the Saturn–Neptune conjunction at 0° Aries on February 20, 2026, which is a separate event layered on top of the ingress, with its own 36-year history. What Neptune in Aries means: the fog lifts and becomes a mission

Neptune is the planet of what we cannot quite see: dreams, ideals, faith, longing, the collective mood, and the dissolving of whatever it touches. Its sign describes the shape of the ideal that an era chases. In Pisces, its modern home, from 2011 to 2025, the ideal was oceanic: everything connected, boundaries blurred, the feed, the vibe, the aesthetic. The signature complaint of those years was that nothing felt solid. Aries is the opposite temperament: the first fire sign, cardinal, ruled by Mars, interested in beginnings, bodies, courage, and the individual who goes first.

Put the dream in that sign and the dream wants something to do. The ideal stops being an atmosphere and becomes a cause: a thing to enlist in, fight for, start. Faith in action is the phrase, and it cuts both ways. On the constructive side it is the end of paralysis: the mood of the Pisces years, in which everyone felt everything and did very little, gives way to people acting on conviction. The shadow is the crusade. Aries acts first and checks later; Neptune supplies a vision that feels like certainty and isn't. Together they describe the fight picked on behalf of an illusion, the holy war, the self-styled warrior whose enemy is partly imaginary, the anger that arrives with a glow of righteousness and no evidence. Where Neptune in Pisces deceived by blurring, Neptune in Aries deceives by inflaming. The discipline of the era, for anyone living through it, is to ask of every surge of conviction: is this a mission, or is this just adrenaline wearing a halo?

There is also a quieter meaning. Neptune in Aries spiritualises the self. The Pisces years dissolved the ego into the collective; the Aries years ask what a spiritual life looks like for a person who is unmistakably someone, with a body, a will, and a name. Why 2025 was a preview, not the start

A lot of transit coverage treated March 30, 2025 as the opening bell and then went quiet when nothing seemed to change. The 2025 stint was a seven-month preview. Neptune entered Aries, got as far as 2°10′, stationed retrograde on July 4, and spent the autumn sliding backward; it crossed into Pisces on October 22 and stationed direct at 29°22′ Pisces on December 10, 2025, the very last degree of the very last sign. Only on January 26, 2026 did it cross 0° Aries for the second and lasting time.

Two things follow. First, the 2025 preview is a real part of the era for anyone born in it: March 30 to October 21, 2025 births are Aries-Neptune babies, full stop, and the ones born October 22, 2025 to January 25, 2026 are the tail of the Pisces generation, the most Neptunian cohort in 165 years. Second, the 29° Pisces station in December 2025 was the last time Neptune will occupy its own sign until the 2170s; the Pisces rising and Pisces Sun readers who felt the ground shift between October 2025 and January 2026 were feeling the ruler of their sign leave home. From January 26, 2026 the fog had lifted; what replaces it takes a decade to become visible.

The same shuffle, in mirror image, closes the era: Neptune enters Taurus on May 21, 2038, stations retrograde at 1°23′ Taurus on August 3, 2038, retreats into Aries on October 21, 2038, stations direct at 28°34′ Aries on January 8, 2039, and leaves Aries for good on March 23, 2039. The transit by house: where the mission shows up in your life

Neptune's sign is shared with the whole planet; the house it moves through is yours. Using whole-sign houses, Aries is the house that counts forward from your rising sign: the 1st for an Aries rising, the 2nd for Pisces rising, and so on around to the 12th for Taurus rising. Aries as your 1st house (Aries rising). The mission is you. Identity gets idealised and then dissolved and then rebuilt: thirteen years of not quite recognising yourself, followed by a self that is more chosen than inherited. The Saturn–Neptune conjunction on your Ascendant in early 2026 was the overture. Risk: believing your own myth. Gift: a genuinely new first impression.

Aries as your 4th house (Capricorn rising). The mission is home and roots. Idealised moves, a longing for a homeland that may not exist, family history re-read as a calling. Risk: a house bought on a vision. Gift: a private life that finally has a spiritual centre.

Aries as your 7th house (Libra rising). The mission is the other person. Partners who are causes, or saviours, or projections; the classic Neptune-in-the-7th pattern of idealising first and seeing clearly later, now with Aries haste attached. Risk: enlisting in someone. Gift: a partnership built around a shared purpose rather than a shared couch. The natal version of this Neptune, the soulmate ideal, is the theme of Neptune in Libra, the opposite placement.

Aries as your 10th house (Cancer rising). The mission is the work. Career becomes vocation or becomes fog: the calling that arrives in a flash, the public role that blurs, the job left for a dream. Risk: quitting on a sign from the universe. Gift: work that means something by 2038.

For the other houses the same logic applies at lower volume: the 2nd idealises and dissolves money (Pisces rising), the 5th creativity and romance (Sagittarius rising), the 6th work and health (Scorpio rising, the one to watch for misdiagnoses), the 9th belief itself (Leo rising), the 12th the inner life (Taurus rising, often the most spiritually productive). Wherever it falls, the station table sets the timing: the transit is strongest in the months a station lands within a degree of a planet or angle in that house.

If you know your Neptune's natal sign, one more layer: Neptune in Aries makes a sextile to natal Neptune in Aquarius (born 1998–2012), a square to natal Neptune in Capricorn (1984–98), and a trine to natal Neptune in Sagittarius (1970–84) at some point during the stay, the same Neptune-to-Neptune aspects that arrive at roughly ages 27, 41, and 55. Who actually has Neptune in Aries natally

The only living people born with Neptune in Aries are small children. The cohort began on March 30, 2025, paused from October 22, 2025 to January 25, 2026, and resumed on January 26, 2026; its oldest members are about 1 year old as of 2026, and it will keep filling until March 2039. No adult alive has it. If you are reading a chart that claims otherwise for anyone born between April 7, 1875 and March 29, 2025, the birth date was entered incorrectly, and the calculator will show which Neptune sign is actually yours; for everyone now alive the answer runs from Virgo (the oldest cohort still alive in any numbers) to Pisces.

What that means for the children is easier to say than for any other Neptune sign, because it is the only one whose transit era and natal cohort overlap with us watching. They are being born into the thing they will carry: their collective ideal, as adults in the 2040s and 2050s, will be whatever faith-in-action came to mean between 2026 and 2039, the way the Pisces cohort born 2011–2025 carries the streaming-era fog. Their own Neptune cycle runs on the usual schedule: sextile around 27, square around 40–42 (the early 2060s for a 2026 birth), trine in the mid-50s, opposition past 80.

For a parent checking a 2025 or 2026 chart, the thing to watch is the boundary. A birth between March 30 and October 21, 2025 is Aries, at 0–2°. A birth between October 22, 2025 and January 25, 2026 is Pisces, at 29°. A birth from January 26, 2026 onward is Aries. Degree matters here: a Neptune at 0° Aries sits on the Aries Point, the first degree of the zodiac, which is exactly where the Saturn–Neptune conjunction fell, and a child born in the first weeks of 2026 has both planets conjunct at the start of everything. The last time: 1861 to 1875, and the cohort that proved the point

Neptune's orbital period is 164.8 years (Wikipedia: Neptune), and the planet has only been known since Johann Galle found it on the evening of September 23, 1846, working from Le Verrier's prediction (STScI, 2011). It completed its first full orbit since discovery in July 2011, which NASA marked on the 12th. So the previous Aries era, April 13, 1861 to April 6, 1875, is the only earlier one astrologers have watched with the planet's name known. Its segments mirror ours: first entry April 13, 1861; a retrograde retreat into Pisces from September 30, 1861 to February 13, 1862; the main stay from February 14, 1862; a first dip into Taurus from June 8 to September 29, 1874; a retreat into Aries from September 30, 1874; and the final exit on April 7, 1875.

The first entry carries its own historical rhyme. Neptune crossed into Aries on April 13, 1861; the bombardment of Fort Sumter, the first military action of the American Civil War, ran April 12–13, 1861 and ended with the fort's surrender that day (Wikipedia: Battle of Fort Sumter). Faith in action, in its most literal and terrible form, began the same week the transit did. We do not claim the planet caused the war; we note that the era's opening image is the one the sign would have chosen.

The cohort born under it is long gone, but one member makes the case for the placement better than any keyword list. Marie Curie was born on November 7, 1867 in Warsaw (Wikipedia: Marie Curie), deep inside the main stay, with Neptune in Aries. The dissolving planet, in the sign of the pioneer, in the chart of the person who discovered radioactivity: matter quietly coming apart, pursued with a single-mindedness that was itself a kind of faith. That is not a horoscope; a Neptune sign is shared by everyone born in those fourteen years and decides nothing on its own. Is Neptune in Aries good? The verdict

First, a caveat. Neptune has no place in the traditional dignity tables at all, because those tables predate its discovery by two thousand years. The modern scheme gives it Pisces as a home and, by extension, Virgo as detriment, with a contested "fall" in Aquarius; it assigns Aries nothing. So there is no throne and no dungeon here, and any page that calls Neptune in Aries "weak" or "strong" by sign is improvising. (Jupiter has no domicile or exaltation in Aries either; we made the same argument there.)

Read functionally, the transit is good for anyone with a direction and hard on anyone without one. It rewards people who can hold a conviction and still check it against reality; it punishes people who mistake the surge of certainty for the truth of it. It is far better for getting things started than Neptune in Pisces was, and far worse at knowing when to stop: a transit to be used rather than endured, provided the thing being started is real.

And for the babies, the only people for whom "natal Neptune in Aries" is a true sentence, the verdict is the one that applies to every Neptune sign: it describes the dream their generation will share, not who each of them will be. That is decided by the rest of the chart, starting with the house.
